North Carolina State Highway Patrol seeks dedicated individuals to join as Highway Patrol Troopers. Troopers enforce motor vehicle laws, investigate traffic collisions, respond to emergencies, and support public safety statewide.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age by the first day of Basic School and no more than 39 by that date.
• Possess a High School diploma or GED.
• Score at or above a 10th-grade reading level on standardized testing.
• Be a United States Citizen or Naturalized Citizen.
• Have no felony convictions.
• Have no convictions for any serious misdemeanor offense.
• Possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
• Be willing to live and work anywhere in the State of North Carolina.
• Have 20/30 vision in each eye, uncorrected 20/200, corrected to 20/30.

Responsibilities

• Protect the traveling public by enforcing motor vehicle laws and investigating traffic collisions.
• Respond to emergencies and support public safety initiatives across North Carolina.
• Assist other law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety.
• Testify in court and participate in various training and evaluation activities.
