Job summary

The Town of Hartford, Vermont is seeking a Highway Equipment Operator I to operate a variety of trucks and highway equipment for winter plowing, salting, and sanding, and for general highway maintenance in other seasons. Ideal candidates have 2-3 years of related experience or an equivalent education, and possess a Class B CDL with Tank Endorsement or can obtain it within 1 year of hire.

Job description

The Town of Hartford, Vermont is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Highway Equipment Operator I. This position will primarily operate a variety of trucks, and other highway equipment, involving plowing, salting and sanding roads in the winter, and assisting in general highway maintenance and construction work in other seasons, with a focus on operation of basic to moderately complex trucks and equipment as well as manual labor.

Minimum qualifications include: 2 - 3 years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Posses a Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Tank Endorsement, or be able to acquire within 1-year of employment.

Regular work hours are Monday to Friday 6:30am to 3:00pm. This is a full-time position starting at $22.64 per hour with benefits that include; health and dental insurance, optional comp time accrual, paid time off, and Vermont Municipal Employees Retirement System Pension.
