Milwaukee County Department of Transportation in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker II for a regular full-time role. You will perform unskilled or semi-skilled construction labor on state, county, and interstate highways under supervision.
Valid Wisconsin Class B CDL with airbrake endorsement, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to lift up to 60 lbs are required. Duties include equipment operation, snow removal, pavement and bridge work, mowing, and traffic control.

Under the Supervision of the Highway Management/Supervisory staff, the primary role of Highway Maintenance Worker 2 is to perform unskilled or semi-skilled construction-related labor in the highway maintenance division on State, County, and Interstate Highways.
Knowledge of the techniques, methods, materials and equipment used in maintenance and improvement of highways and roads; knowledge of public safety rules and regulations; knowledge and familiarity with the maintenance and lubrication and minor repair of a wide variety of vehicles, machinery and equipment; ability to operate a wide variety of vehicle and other equipment used in snow removal and in the improvement and maintenance of grounds and roads; ability to use hand tools of the trade; ability to follow both oral and written instructions; ability to work in adverse weather conditions; and ability to work effectively and harmoniously with staff, the public and others. Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 60 lbs.
This Original Examination is open to current residents of the state of Wisconsin. In accordance with Rule III section 11 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of a review of candidate materials, education and related experience.
