Job summary

Caltrans Highway Maintenance Worker performs field maintenance on highway facilities, operating equipment and light vehicles as assigned. The role requires adherence to safety standards, training, and the ability to work across districts as needed.

Overnight travel up to 80 percent may be required to support operational needs and training. Under supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor, you may train others on equipment and carry out a wide range of landscape, bridge, and roadside maintenance

Qualifications

• Must maintain knowledge of mandated safety training and standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate and service highway maintenance equipment and light vehicles as assigned.
• Perform highway, landscape, and structure maintenance duties.
• Provide training on equipment to other employees when needed.
• Possibility of travel to other units/areas; up to 80% overnight travel may be required.
