Job summary

Idaho Transportation Department in New Plymouth seeks a Transportation Technician Apprentice – Highway Maintenance to join District 3. The role offers a sign-on bonus and a 3–5 year career path with wage steps from $21.05 to $25.83 per hour, with potential acceleration for prior snow plowing experience. A CDL is required within 60 days and random drug testing is performed.

Expect varied shifts and travel. Starting as an apprentice, you’ll progress through steps with wage increases and on-the-job

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license.
• Experience operating vehicles with manual transmissions.
• Must obtain Class A CDL within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform entry-level traffic services activities such as snow plowing, striping, and replacing and repairing traffic signs and posts.
• Perform entry-level technical highway maintenance and engineering work.
• Operate a variety of power tools and equipment to maintain roadways, signs, bridges and other facilities.
• Conduct routine inspections and field tests on construction and maintenance projects.
• Conduct sample and routine material testing.
