Job summary

State of Indiana, INDOT Peru Unit, is seeking a Highway Technician to maintain Indiana highways and interstates. You will perform general maintenance, assist with traffic control during emergencies, and support winter operations.

Entry-level with opportunities for career growth, with mandatory overtime for emergency operations including winter. The position starts at $20.00 per hour and may be commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days of employment.
• Must pass a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for long periods.
• Ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.
• Ability to operate specialty traffic equipment (e.g. bucket trucks, paint equipment).
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate basic highway maintenance and traffic equipment to keep highways and rights-of-way clean and safe.
• Perform winter operations duties including snow and ice removal.
• Assist with traffic control during emergencies and road closures.
• Inspect and perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
