Virginia Department of Transportation seeks qualified personnel to perform a mix of equipment operation, preventive maintenance, and manual labor in roadway maintenance. The role includes emergency roadway operations as an essential employee and snow/ice control.

You will operate light, medium, and heavy highway equipment, perform safety-focused tasks, and implement MUTCD-based detours and work-zones while maintaining documentation and teamwork with the crew.

Competenze

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months and maintain thereafter.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
• Knowledge of highway maintenance equipment, materials, methods, and procedures.
• Safety shoes required.
• Skill in the operation and maintenance of hand and power tools.
• Skill in the operation and maintenance of light, medium, and heavy duty equipment used for highway maintenance and repair.
• Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions.

Mansioni

• Operate and maintain light and medium-duty highway equipment and vehicles for maintenance tasks.
• Prepare and operate equipment for snow removal and emergency operations; provide traffic control.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor equipment repairs as needed.
• Set up and monitor traffic control devices per MUTCD in work zones.
• Ensure safety practices, PPE compliance, and safe work environment.
