DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role supports the County Maintenance Manager by guiding maintenance activities within a designated area and helping the organization reach its operational goals. The work focuses on planning, coordination, quality control, and the development of safe and effective practices. As a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, you will perform the following duties:

  • Planning Support: Prepare plans and estimates for maintenance operations across multiple roadway activities
  • Resource Guidance: Provide recommendations on equipment, manpower, and material allocation to meet program goals
  • Work Coordination: Participate in organizing assignments and encourage clear and productive communication
  • Field Oversight: Check in progress and completed field work for policy, procedure, quality, and plan compliance
  • Safety Leadership: Ensure proper safety measures are used and promote awareness of conditions to prevent accidents
  • Team Development: Participate in evaluating skills, identifying training needs, and supporting cooperative methods to improve operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full‑time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
  • Overtime as needed, rotating on‑call
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $60,538.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years as a Highway Foreman 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Five years of technical experience in highway maintenance or highway construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
