Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking Civil Engineering students to join our Highway Engineering team in Rochester, NY for Summer 2027. This internship provides hands-on experience in highways, roadways and transportation projects, mentored by senior engineers.

You will support design tasks, CAD work, calculations and cost estimates on real projects and gain exposure to environmental and utility considerations while developing professional skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related program.
• Interest in roadway and highway/traffic design preferred.
• Must have reliable transportation to the office.
• Basic understanding of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred.
• Completed coursework in Transportation Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist technical staff with day-to-day design tasks for transportation and traffic projects.
• Conduct basic engineering functions including CAD, calculations and cost estimating under supervision.
• Develop roadway, sidewalk, intersection design including roundabouts, traffic signals, interchanges.
• Prepare low-level complexity general engineering designs and technical data.
• Assist with permit applications, material testing, drawings and CAD work.
• Visit projects under construction and assist with field reconnaissance under supervision.
