Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking Civil Engineering students to join the Highway Engineering team in Albany, NY for Summer 2027. This internship provides hands-on experience in highways, roadways, and transportation design on real projects shaping community mobility.

You’ll work with experienced engineers on conceptual planning, alignments, and contract document preparation, learning to balance project costs with environmental and property considerations.

Formación

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related program.
• Interest in roadway and highway/traffic design preferred.
• Must have reliable transportation to the office.
• Basic understanding of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred.
• Completed coursework in Transportation Engineering preferred.
• Possess solid problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to work in a high-paced environment.
• Strong computer literacy, to include MS Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsabilidades

• Assist technical staff with day‑to‑day design tasks for various types of transportation and traffic projects.
• Conduct basic engineering functions including computer‑aided design, calculations and cost estimating under the direct supervision of senior engineers and managers.
• Develop roadway, sidewalk, intersection design, including roundabouts, traffic signals, interchanges, and other highway infrastructure.
• Demonstrate the ability to prepare low‑level complexity general engineering designs and/or technical data for completion and accuracy.
• Assist with other project related tasks such as permit applications, material testing, drawings and CAD work.
• Visit projects under construction and assist with field reconnaissance under the supervision of a senior engineer or project manager.
