Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to lead highway design efforts, including pavement, drainage, and signing, while ensuring compliance with TXDOT standards. The role includes business development, staff management, and serving as a technical expert for project teams.

Ideal candidates will have a PE license, 15+ years of highway engineering experience, and proven success in managing multiple projects in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 15+ years of experience in transportation/highway engineering or equivalent.
• Project management and business development experience.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of TXDOT design standards, policies, and IPD processes.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate strategic growth plans with office managers and practice leaders.
• Establish and grow market presence through marketing and business development.
• Manage department budget and allocate resources.
• Lead and contribute to proposals and client engagements.
• Serve as a technical advisor to project managers and staff.
• Staffing, mentoring, and performance evaluations for the section.
• Coordinate work-sharing across regions.
