Job summary

The Lane Construction Corporation invites motivated students to join its South Carolina Construction Intern program for a hands-on summer experience on a major highway project. You will work with project teams in both field and office environments, gaining exposure to planning, estimating, safety, and quality control.

During the 10‑week program, you'll develop technical and leadership skills, receive mentorship, and explore career paths in heavy civil construction, with guidance from industry

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS/MS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Interest in heavy civil construction and infrastructure projects.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute in both office and field settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist with procurement activities.
• Support survey and layout operations.
• Assist safety professionals with safety initiatives and documentation.
• Read and interpret construction plans and drawings.
• Draft and prepare project submittals.
• Support foremen and superintendents with daily field operations.
• Work alongside construction crews onsite to gain practical construction experience.
• Learn and utilize HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and Primavera.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
