Job summary

The Lane Construction Corporation in Virginia is offering a 10-week Summer Internship for aspiring civil engineers and construction managers. As a Construction Intern, you will engage with project teams in field and office environments, supporting procurement, surveying, safety, plans, and submittals.

You will gain exposure to heavy civil construction, mentorship from industry professionals, and hands-on experience on a major highway project in Virginia.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Strong interest in heavy civil construction and infrastructure projects.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute in both office and field settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist with procurement activities.
• Support survey and layout operations.
• Assist project safety professionals with safety initiatives and documentation.
• Read and interpret construction plans and drawings.
• Draft and prepare project submittals.
• Support Foremen and Superintendents with daily field operations.
• Work alongside construction crews onsite to gain practical construction experience.
• Learn and utilize industry-leading software such as HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and Primavera.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
