Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University’s Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC) seeks an Assistant Director/Career Consultant to support career development initiatives for undergraduates and graduates within the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The role acts as primary CPDC liaison for multiple departments, advising students on career planning using CPDC’s framework and delivering content across in-person, group, and online modalities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
• 1–3 years in college student development or career development OR in early career recruiting/HR
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and partners
• Ability to deliver content through multiple modalities (in-person, group, online)

Responsibilities

• Assist undergraduates and graduates with career goals, job search strategies, marketing materials, and interview practice
• Create and present career programs, workshops, career fairs, and online content
• Cultivate employer relationships to understand industry trends and recruitment needs
• Build strong relationships with department heads, academic advisors, and faculty; maintain open communication
• Travel for career treks and employer engagement as needed
• Track internship and first-destination outcomes with high attention to detail
• Other duties as assigned
