Job summary

Meriwether Godsey, Inc. is seeking a Cook to support a college preparatory school in Middleburg, VA. The candidate will help prepare and portion meals, follow recipes, and maintain food safety standards in a fast-paced kitchen.

Qualifications

• Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience as a cook is preferred; school/contract dining experience is a plus.
• ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Experience with high-volume food service, preferably in school environments.
• Ability to measure and convert units of measure.
• Strong professionalism, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to switch between locations and duties.
• Growing knowledge of sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

• Participate in preparation, cooking, and portioning of large quantities of food.
• Prepare items in batches to serve with minimal waste and timely service.
• Follow recipes and suggest changes to improve quality.
• Cook, maintain, and store foods at proper temperatures.
• Record temperatures and follow sanitation standards.
• Maintain records of production, attendance and leftovers for forecasting.
• Organize and sanitize coolers, freezers and storerooms.
• Attend daily production meetings and contribute ideas on leftovers and efficiency.
• Perform duties in line with food safety and sanitation best practices.
• Other duties as assigned.
