Northwestern Medicine in Chicago is seeking a Line Cook to support room service and patient meals in a high-volume food production environment. You will prepare hot and cold items, ensure timely plating, portion control and adherence to dietary restrictions.

The role requires 2 years of high-volume diner or restaurant experience, a culinary degree is preferred, and Chicago Health Department food-handling certification.

Qualifications

• Two years of high-volume Diner or Restaurant Experience.
• Culinary degree and one year of high-volume a la carte experience.
• Food Handling Certification Health Department -- City of Chicago.
• High School Graduate.

Responsabilités

• Prepares room service menu items in accordance with established/approved recipes and plate presentation standards.
• Shows proficiency in all a la carte cooking methods including sauté, grilling, broiling, frying and plating assembly.
• Utilizes/understands the proper use of quantity food production equipment including tilting fryers, turbo chef ovens, mixers, combi ovens and convection ovens.
• Prepares hot and cold food to order according to department standards of quality, presentation and garnishing.
• Maintains proper portion control for each order prepared per standardized recipes.
• Adheres to diet and allergy restrictions for patient food orders while preparing meals.
• Ensures the quality of all ingredients per department guidelines and maintains safe food temperatures.
• Performs assigned cleaning by end of shift and maintains a clean, orderly work area.
