Job summary

Overland Contracting Inc is seeking a Substation Journeyman to plan, lay-out, install, test and maintain high voltage substation wiring and equipment across generating stations and substations.

Responsibilities include installing conduits, testing voltage systems, rigging large equipment, and ensuring safety on live substations up to 500,000 volts; requires at least 4 years of relevant experience and strict adherence to plans and specs.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years working experience as a Substation Helper or equivalent in an industrial construction setting.
• Strong working knowledge of high voltage electrical and civil industry standards.
• Ability to understand and follow directions; must have necessary tools.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lay-out, install, test, repair, or maintain high voltage substation wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment in accordance with plans and specs.
• Install conduits, cable, and duct banks and connect control and distribution apparatus; test circuits for safety and compatibility.
• Rig and set large high voltage equipment and install grounding leads; operate in live substations up to 500,000 volts.
• Participate in pre-job safety planning and follow safety rules to maintain a safe work environment.
