Job summary

Frequency Electronics, Inc. in Uniondale, NY is seeking a seasoned High Vacuum Technician to operate, maintain and repair high and ultra-high vacuum systems onsite. You will troubleshoot leaks, calibrate gauges, and support pumping systems in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of on-hand experience in high or ultra-high vacuum systems.
• Strong knowledge of vacuum theory, pressure measurement, and system design.
• Familiarity with stainless steel piping, fittings, valves, and cleanroom procedures.
• Experience with thin film deposition, semiconductor, or scientific instrumentation environments is a plus.
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Precise welding ability required.
• Familiarity with machine shop environment
• Associate degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical or related technical field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and maintain high and ultra-high vacuum systems and components.
• Troubleshoot vacuum leaks, perform leak detection using helium mass spectrometers, and ensure system integrity.
• Operate and maintain pumps (mechanical, turbomolecular, cryogenic, diffusion, and ion pumps).
• Calibrate and repair vacuum gauges and controllers.
• Conduct preventative maintenance according to schedules and detailed service records
• Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to support testing and experimental setups.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and operational standards.
