Job summary

IDEXX is seeking an Automated Antibody Engineering Scientist in Westbrook, ME, to lead high-throughput antibody workflows from design to validated reagents for diagnostics. The role spans molecular biology, antibody generation, and automation, with cross-functional collaboration across discovery and assay development teams.

The ideal candidate has hands-on molecular biology experience, recombinant expression in multiple systems, and a track record in protein characterization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field with lab experience
  • Hands-on molecular biology techniques and protein expression knowledge
  • Experience with recombinant antibody expression and protein characterization
  • Familiarity with automation platforms and standard analytical methods
  • Experience with antibody discovery platforms is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute molecular biology workflows for antigen and antibody construct development
  • Develop and optimize recombinant expression constructs in mammalian, insect, or bacterial systems
  • Devise and execute antibody generation workflows including platform selection
  • Perform protein and antibody characterization using SDS-PAGE, Western blot, ELISA, BLI, SEC
  • Develop and maintain automated liquid handling protocols
  • Collaborate with LC/MS and genomics teams to evaluate targets and design strategies
  • Partner with downstream immunoassay teams to report reagent performance
  • Generate progress presentations for cross-functional audiences
  • Leverage literature to apply novel technologies to the pipeline
  • Document experiments and ensure safety and regulatory compliance
