Job summary

TE Connectivity’s Tooling Teams are responsible for the construction, modification, and maintenance of metalworking dies, tools, and fixtures. The Progressive High Speed Stamping Tool & Die Maker III will play a critical role in supporting stamping production by performing precision work, troubleshooting complex die setups, and providing technical expertise.

You will be a key resource for technical questions and training other team members, including apprentices.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree in Machining Technology preferred.
  • Completion of a State-Approved Apprenticeship Program and Journeyman’s Card highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in die repair, rebuilding, and conditioning of complex progressive dies.
  • Proficient use of shop equipment and tooling with tolerance of +/- .0001.
  • Experience in heat-treating, EDM plunge machines, and profile grinding.
  • Strong teamwork, problem solving, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Automotive stamping experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical contact for the team, answering routine questions and providing assistance or training as needed.
  • Perform die and module changeovers, preventive maintenance, and conditioning of dies.
  • Sharpen and repair close tolerance tooling, including carbide punches and dies.
  • Troubleshoot complex die setups and production issues.
  • Replace worn or broken tooling and maintain high-speed progressive dies.
  • Construct, modify, and condition metal working dies, gauges, and tooling based on blueprints, sketches, or engineering specifications.
  • Set up and operate shop machinery such as lathes, milling machines, heat treat ovens, surface grinders, and more.
  • Perform precision work using instruments like micrometers, calipers, and comparators to ensure parts meet final inspection standards.
  • Set up and operate stamping presses, ensuring conformance to Quality Inspection Plan (Q.I.P.) requirements.
  • Train apprentices and support the apprenticeship program.
  • Monitor spare tooling for availability and identify problem areas by tracking spikes in usage.

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Tooling Teams are responsible for the construction, modification, and maintenance of metalworking dies, tools, and fixtures. The Progressive High Speed Stamping Tool & Die Maker III will play a critical role in supporting stamping production by performing precision work, troubleshooting complex die setups, and providing technical expertise. This role also includes performing die changeovers, maintaining high-speed progressive dies, and fabricating new tools using blueprints and engineering specifications. You will be a key resource for technical questions and training other team members, including apprentices. In addition to hands‑on work, the Progressive High Speed Stamping Tool & Die Maker III collaborates closely with die engineering to drive continuous improvement in quality, cost, and productivity.

Job Requirements

3rd shift is from 11pm-7am Sunday through Thursday with an added 11% hourly shift differential.

  • Serve as the primary technical contact for the team, answering routine questions and providing assistance or training as needed.

What Your Background Should Look Like
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree in Machining Technology preferred.

Compensation
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $55,200 – $82,700 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
