Job summary

TE Connectivity is seeking a Progressive High Speed Stamping Tool & Die Maker III to support stamping production, perform precision work, and drive improvements. You will troubleshoot die setups, changeovers, and fabricate tools using blueprints while training apprentices.

This role emphasizes collaboration with die engineering to improve quality, cost, and productivity on 3rd shift with a robust pay differential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree in Machining Technology preferred.
  • Completion of a State-Approved Apprenticeship Program and Journeyman’s Card strongly preferred.
  • 3–5 years of die repair, rebuilding and conditioning experience.
  • Proficient with shop equipment and grinding tools; tolerance ±0.0001.
  • Experience in heat-treating, EDM plunge machines, and profile grinding.
  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.
  • Automotive stamping experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary technical contact for the team and provide training as needed.
  • Perform die and module changeovers, preventive maintenance and conditioning.
  • Sharpen and repair close-tolerance tooling including carbide punches and dies.
  • Troubleshoot complex die setups and production issues.
  • Replace worn/broken tooling; maintain high-speed progressive dies.
  • Construct/modify/condition metal dies, gauges and tooling per blueprints.
  • Set up and operate lathes, mills, ovens, surface grinders, and more.
  • Use micrometers/calipers/comparators for precision inspection.
  • Set up stamping presses per Q.I.P. requirements.
  • Train apprentices and support the apprenticeship program.
  • Monitor spare tooling and identify spikes in usage.

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Tooling Teams are responsible for the construction, modification, and maintenance of metalworking dies, tools, and fixtures. The Progressive High Speed Stamping Tool & Die Maker III will play a critical rolein supporting stamping production by performing precision work, troubleshooting complex die setups, andproviding technical expertise. This role also includes performing die changeovers, maintaining high-speedprogressive dies, and fabricating new tools using blueprints and engineering specifications. You will be a keyresource for technical questions and training other team members, including apprentices. In addition to hands-onwork, the Progressive High Speed Stamping Tool & Die Maker III collaborates closely with die engineering to drivecontinuous improvement in quality, cost, and productivity.

Job Requirements
  • 3rd shift is from 11pm-7am Sunday through Thursday with an added11% hourly shift differential.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for the team, answering routine questions and providing assistance ortraining as needed.
  • Perform die and module changeovers, preventive maintenance, and conditioning of dies.
  • Sharpen and repair close tolerance tooling, including carbide punches and dies.
  • Troubleshoot complex die setups and production issues.
  • Replace worn or broken tooling and maintain high-speed progressive dies.
  • Construct, modify, and condition metal working dies, gages, and tooling based on blueprints, sketches, orengineering specifications.
  • Set up and operate shop machinery such as lathes, milling machines, heat treat ovens, surface grinders, andmore.
  • Perform precision work using instruments like micrometers, calipers, and comparators to ensure parts meet finalinspection standards.
  • Set up and operate stamping presses, ensuring conformance to Quality Inspection Plan (Q.I.P.) requirements.
  • Train apprentices and support the apprenticeship program.
  • Monitor spare tooling for availability and identify problem areas by tracking spikes in usage.
What Your Background Should Look Like
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree in Machining Technology preferred.
  • Completion of a State-Approved Apprenticeship Program and possession of a Journeyman’s Card are highlypreferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in die repair, rebuilding, and conditioning of complex progressive dies.
  • Proficient in the use of shop equipment and grinding tools with tolerance of +/- .0001.
  • Experience in heat-treating, operating E.D.M. plunge machines, and profile grinding.
  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Automotive stamping experience preferred.

Compensation
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $55,200 – $82,700 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
