Job summary

Derby Public Schools (KS) USD 260 in Derby, KS seeks a High School Assistant Coach to mentor student-athletes across multiple sports. You will implement sport-specific drills, teach game strategies, and promote education through athletics.

This role is backed by a supplemental annual contract and reports to the Head Coach and District Athletic/Activities Director. Responsibilities include developing practice plans, maintaining safety standards, and coordinating equipment and public relations

Qualifications

• Teaching certification or ability to obtain KSHSAA Rule 10 certification.
• Fundamental knowledge of the activity.
• Ability to select from a variety of instruction methods to teach sport objectives.
• CPR and First Aid knowledge is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Develop drill and practice activities that teach and enhance skill development for players.
• Know sport rules and strategies and apply them during practices and contests.
• Assist in checking out, maintaining, and checking in equipment.
• Plan and enforce safety and health rules and regulations.
• Public relations with all audiences (players, parents, spectators, and staff).
• Adhere to district policies, rules, and regulations.
