Job summary

Westfield High School in Westfield, Massachusetts seeks an Academic Tutor to support students in a Title 1 program. The tutor will assist in math, ELA, science, social studies and other subjects through on-site, one-on-one or small-group sessions during the school day.

The position, reporting to the Principal, requires a Bachelor's degree (teaching certification preferred) and experience with tutoring high school students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; teaching cert preferred.
• Experience tutoring high school students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of authorized administrators, the tutor shall:
• Facilitate the day to day operations of the WHS Tutoring Center.
• Provide academic assistance for students to develop skills in math, ELA, science, social studies, and other content areas.
• Provide one-to-one or small group instruction.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills and collaborate with students of varying backgrounds and needs.
• Collaborate with teachers and supervisors to determine strategies to increase student achievement.
• Monitor student progress.
• Be familiar with Google Platform and applications, especially Google Classroom.
• Assist content area teachers in implementing and following student-learning plans.
• Any other duties as assigned by the building principal or Superintendent of schools.
