Job Description
PENDING GRANT FUNDING
POSITION: Math Tutor - Westfield Technical Academy (1)
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree and/or enrolled in a teaching certification program at a college or university; grade level and content certification; experience teaching or tutoring high school students preferred.
REPORTS TO: Principal or Principal Designee
Under the direction of authorized administrators, the tutor shall:
- Provide academic assistance for students in developing math skills and concepts in Algebra and Geometry.
- Provide one-to-one or small group instruction.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and collaborate effectively with students of varying backgrounds and levels of need.
- Collaborate with teachers to determine strategies to increase student achievement.
- Provide instruction in targeted areas based on student data.
- Monitor student progress.
- Be familiar with Google Platform and applications, especially Google Classroom.
- Create and maintain a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to learning.
- Assist content area teachers in implementing and following student-learning plans.
- Any other duties as assigned by the building principal or Superintendent of schools.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Must be available during the school day 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
- Not to exceed 19.5 hours per week
SALARY
Stipend - $36 per hour
DATES OF EMPLOYMENT
September 2025 – June 2026
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield Public School evaluation, observations by WTA Administration, and student feedback.
