Qualifications

• Teacher/Coach: Pennsylvania and Diocesan credential authorizing secondary teaching.
• Coach: Sufficient education to meet knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Many possess a bachelor’s degree in sports science, exercise, kinesiology, fitness, physical education or physiology.
• CPR training and any state-required training.
• Leadership skills and ability to set an example for players.
• Excellent communication skills to inspire players and work with them on improvement.
• Meets all diocesan employment requirements

Responsibilities

• Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages participation.
• Assesses players' skills and assigns team positions.
• Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time for development.
• Schedules facilities for practices and competition with athletics director.
• Assigns duties to an assistant coach as needed.
• Coaches and instructs players on rules, equipment, and techniques.
• Observes players to identify needs for improvement.
• Determines game strategy based on team capabilities.
• Maintains proper behavior standards and supervises athletes.
• Monitors academic performance to ensure eligibility and encourage academics.
• Follows injury procedures and communicates with guardians as needed.
• Follows regulations governing the athletic program.
• Represents the team to media and booster clubs.
• Maintains equipment, supplies, and uniforms; manages inventories.
• Develops awards policy with athletic director and submits winners.
• Participates in parent nights, banquets, awards, and pep assemblies.
• Maintains emergency data and related records.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices and upholds Christian values.
• Attends staff development meetings and training to improve coaching.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Principal & Athletic Director.
