Job summary

Union County TEAMS Charter School a Nj Nonprofit Corporation seeks an experienced Special Education Teacher of Students with Disabilities to foster an inclusive classroom culture and deliver IEP-driven instruction aligned with standards.

The role involves collaborating with general education teachers, providing targeted interventions, and ensuring compliance with IDEA and NJDOE regulations while maintaining strong family partnerships and data-driven instruction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification or eligibility is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom culture with strong relationships to support academic and social-emotional growth.
• Design individualized and small group instruction aligned with IEPs and standards; ensure equitable access to rigorous coursework.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to deliver differentiated instruction and co-teaching models.
• Provide targeted interventions in literacy, mathematics, executive functioning, and social-emotional skills.
• Assess student performance data and adjust instruction with the IEP team and leaders.
• Ensure compliance with IDEA and NJDOE regulations, including IEP documentation and family communication.
• Engage families through IEP meetings, conferences, and school events.
• Possibly collaborate with related service providers to support transition planning.

Education

Bachelor's degree

Master's degree (preferred)

NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification or eligibility

NJ Subject Area certification (content-specific) preferred

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Minimum of two years teaching experience preferred

Collaboration with families and colleagues

Strong organizational skills
