LEAD Charter School in Newark, New Jersey, seeks an exceptional Special Education Teacher to join our mission-driven community. Our model serves students aged 16–21 in grades 9–12, focusing on equity and competency-based instruction aligned with market demands.

Reporting to the Head of School, the teacher will implement rigorous instructional practices, collaborate with staff, and engage with families. Ten-month terms apply, with salary around a competitive level for district roles and benefits

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Proven success in raising achievement for underserved students.
• Strong commitment to youth and collaboration with parents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient with office software.
• Analytical skills; ability to use data to drive instruction.
• Ability to personalize instruction through differentiation and blended learning.

Responsibilities

• Plans and delivers a program of study aligned with state and local standards.
• Suggests and uses instruction and materials to meet student needs.
• Monitors pupil progress and adjusts instruction to meet objectives.
• Manages classroom procedures and routines; maintains a safe learning environment.
• Communicates with parents and staff to support student success.
• Engages in curriculum development and uses data to improve learning outcomes.
• Maintains student records and supports after-school activities.
