Job summary

Flint Community Schools seeks a Special Education Teacher for Cognitive Impairments to design, deliver, and assess instruction tailored to each student’s needs. You will collaborate with families, educators, and support staff to create inclusive learning environments and robust IEPs.

You will use evidence-based strategies, monitor progress, and communicate findings through detailed reports while ensuring compliance with district policies and federal/state regulations.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate required.
• Cognitive Impairment endorsement required.
• Ability to write, implement, and monitor IEPs.
• Criminal background check and screenings required.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement individualized instruction for students with cognitive impairments.
• Develop and monitor IEPs in collaboration with MET/IEPT teams.
• Assess student progress and provide reports to families and staff.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to provide accommodations.
• Use evidence-based strategies and positive behavior supports.
• Guide paraprofessionals and volunteers; maintain organized records.
