Job summary

North Hudson Academy is seeking a dedicated Social Studies Teacher for grades 9-12 with a focus on students with special needs. You will implement IEP goals, deliver standards-based social studies instruction, and manage behavior in a structured setting.

The role is full-time and exempt, Monday through Friday, 7:15-2:15pm, in a New Jersey DOE approved private special education school serving PreK–12 with behavioral/emotional supports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or related field.
• Special Education certification or equivalent experience preferred.
• Praxis testing completed and English proficiency required.
• Experience with children with disabilities is expected.

Responsibilities

• Planning and carrying out the IEP and instructional program for individual students
• Planning and managing the school’s therapeutic approach to discipline
• Coordinating and scheduling activities with other staff
• Maintaining and inventorying classroom supplies and instructional materials
• Keep records as required
• Writing reports and meeting with parents and professionals
• Participate in school meetings, conferences, and in-service activities

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in Education

Special Education certification

Teacher of the Handicapped certification

Praxis testing completed

Experience with children with disabilities

English reading/writing proficiency
