Job summary

North Hudson Academy is seeking a dedicated High School Science Teacher to join our team full-time, teaching science to students with special needs in grades 9-12. You will develop and implement IEP-aligned science lessons, support behavioral and academic growth, and collaborate with related service providers and families to promote student success in a restrictive environment.

The role offers a 7:15-2:15 schedule, M-F, with evenings and weekends off and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Special Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• NJ Teacher of the Handicapped Certification OR Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification AND Teacher of Science.
• Experience with children with disabilities.
• Must be able to read, write and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out IEP and instructional program for individual students.
• Plan and manage the school’s therapeutic approach to discipline.
• Coordinate and schedule activities with other staff.
• Maintain and inventory classroom supplies and instructional materials.
• Keep records as required.
• Write reports, meet with parents and professionals, and share information for individual students.
• Participate in school meetings, conferences, and in-service activities.
