Job summary

Valley News in Vermont is seeking a Special Educator to provide direct services to students on plans requiring specialized instruction. The role reports to the Director of Academic/Special Education Services, who will provide case management and maintain all required documentation for IEPs.

Qualifications

• Must hold appropriate state license or certification.
• Experience with IEPs and 504 plans.
• Strong assessment and observation skills.
• Ability to collaborate with teachers and parents.

Responsibilities

• Performs assessments and observations to determine student needs.
• Identifies needs and develops lesson plans.
• Collaborates with teachers, parents, psychologists, and staff.
• Develops and teaches lessons for small groups and individuals aligned to IEPs/504 plans.
• Communicates progress and concerns to parents and stakeholders.
• Implements IEPs and tracks progress, modifying as needed.
• Maintains paperwork in line with local/state/federal guidelines.
