Arlington Public Schools (MA) seeks a dedicated Special Educator for Arlington High School for the 2026-27 school year. The role focuses on planning instruction and curriculum modifications to help students with special needs succeed in typical settings.

Responsibilities include direct instruction in inclusive settings, developing IEP goals, coordinating with regular education staff, and maintaining parent communication.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Education is required.
• License to teach Special Education at High School level in MA (Moderate/Severe Disabilities).
• Experience with students with special needs and at the high school level.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction to students, both within and outside the regular education classroom, in collaboration with the regular classroom teacher.
• Plan and modify regular curriculum.
• Consult with regular education staff.
• Monitor student progress in the regular education program.
• Develop IEPs, determine goals and objectives.
• Prepare progress reports.
• Organize and chair team meetings and other meetings.
• Administer testing for evaluations and end-of-term reporting.
• Maintain contact with parents.
• Attend building learning team meetings.
• Direct the work of teaching assistants.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by Building Principal and/or Special Education Administrator.

Education

Master's Degree in Education

Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Special Education Teacher at the High School level (Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities)

Experience working with children with special needs and interest in working with students at the High School Level
