Job summary

NFI Massachusetts, Inc. seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher for High School History/Social Science in Westborough, MA, within a DMH-funded Intensive Residential Treatment Program.

You will deliver academic instruction, develop IEPs, and support students with complex emotional and behavioral needs in a structured therapeutic setting. The role emphasizes trauma-informed practices, collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams, and crisis-management supports in a 190-day full-time

Qualifications

• Massachusetts DESE Special Education License preferred.
• Licensure in High School History/Social Science required.
• Experience with students with emotional/behavioral challenges preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and small group History/Social Science instruction aligned with MA curricula.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications.
• Modify curriculum and instructional strategies for diverse learning profiles.
• Utilize trauma-informed and evidence-based instructional practices.
• Integrate social-emotional learning and executive functioning supports into instruction.
• Maintain a safe, structured classroom environment and positive behavior supports.
• Support students during emotional/behavioral dysregulation with therapeutic strategies.
• Participate in crisis prevention/intervention training and MDT collaboration.
• Attend IEP meetings, treatment planning, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Maintain accurate student records and required DESE documentation.
• Collaborate with families, school districts, clinical providers, and residential staff.
