Job summary

School District 27J (Inc) at Riverdale Ridge High School seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with moderate disabilities in both general and special education classes. You will modify materials, assist with instruction, collect data, maintain student records, and supervise students for safety before and after school.

The position is 8.5 hours daily, Tuesday through Friday, 9-month schedule paid over 12 months, with benefits.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as Behavior Plans, IEPs, staff and student handbooks.
Ability to collect data, write routine reports and simple correspondences.
Ability to effectively present information to teachers and related services providers.
Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.

Responsibilities

Provide direct instruction and academic support and supervision for students with disabilities.
Modify materials and assist with instruction delivery.
Identify and facilitate peer relationships and natural supports.
Follow through with behavior plans and monitor safety in school and activities.
Maintain forms and records as requested by teachers and related staff.
De-escalate students using CPI measures and behavior plans.
Consult with general education teachers on best practices in special education.
Communicate observations and progress with teachers and specialists.
Assist with minor clerical duties, trainings, and staffings as needed.
