Job summary

Biddeford High School in Biddeford, ME seeks a Special Education Teacher with an ELA focus for Fall 2026. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, you will maximize learning for students with special needs by implementing district-approved curriculum and documenting progress.

Responsibilities include conducting assessments, collaborating in PPTs to develop IEPs, coordinating with outside agencies, and serving as a liaison with families to support student growth and behavioral

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education for teaching assignment.
Master's Degree in Special Education preferred.
State Certification as a Special Education Teacher (Maine DOE 286 or 282).
Criminal History Background Check with fingerprints as required.

Responsibilities

Conducts assessments, testing and diagnostic examinations of students for identifying learning issues and crafting corrective actions.
Participates in PPTs and assists in developing IEPs for students.
Assists students and staff in implementing IEPs and behavior management plans.
Coordinates with outside agencies and authorities as needed.
Coordinates with administrators and staff to identify abilities and needs, and to inform stakeholders about social work services.
Acts as a liaison between home and school, providing counseling to support personal growth and behavioral management.
