Job summary

Applitrack is seeking individuals to coach at the secondary level (grades 6-12) with WV teaching certification or WVSSAC certification. Applicants must complete WVSSAC training and KCS concussion awareness as part of Kanawha County Schools’ processes.

The costs for background checks, screenings, and training are outlined in the posting. New teachers hired after July 1, 2012 must complete required training sessions to coach on the first day of practice and keep certifications current throughout

Qualifications

• Valid WV teaching certification or WVDE teaching permit or substitute permit.
• High school diploma or GED
• WVSSAC certification

Responsibilities

• Cooperates with building principal
• Cooperates with athletic director
• Develops rapport with coaching staff within the school
• Organizes coaching staff
• Develops positive relationships with participants, student body, faculty, parents, community, officials, news media, and opponents
• Employs appropriate conduct during practices and games
• Attends league, conference and WVSSAC meetings
• Participates in activities that foster growth and development
• Motivates staff and players toward desired goals
• Commands respect by example in appearance, manners, behavior and language
• Develops high caliber and quality instruction
• Teaches fundamental skills
• Handles athletic injuries
• Cares for equipment
• Supervises participants and disciplines team appropriately
• Designs quality organization of practice sessions
• Designs pre-season planning
• Supervises managers and other support personnel
• Manages budget
• Follows purchasing procedures
• Initiates game organizational skills
• Follows league, conference and WVSSAC policies
• Devotes time and energy to coaching duties
• Follows end of season procedures
• Complete WVSSAC Training & Certification Program and take KCS Staff Development Training on Concussions
• New TEACHERS that have been hired after July 1, 2012 who apply to coach on the secondary level (grades 6-12) must have completed the three hour training session provided by Kanawha County Schools and complete the On-line Concussion Awareness Course through the KCS Staff Development Site
• The training courses will be taught throughout the year
• Cost of the course will be $15.00
• This requirement will allow new teachers hired after July 1, 2012 by Kanawha County Schools to be able to coach on the first day of practice of each specified sport identified
