Job summary

Algiers Charter School Association is seeking a School Social Worker for a 10.5‑month full‑time role in New Orleans. The position focuses on strengthening home, school, and community partnerships to promote student welfare and achievement.

The duties include crisis intervention, counseling, home visits, collaboration with staff, and facilitating IEP processes to support students with barriers to learning.

Qualifications

• Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Louisiana with a minimum of three years post-master experience working with children, youth and families.
• Preferred: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Louisiana with three years post-master experience.
• Ancillary Certification from the Louisiana Department of Education as a Qualified School Social Worker.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention, counseling services and support coordination.
• Build trusting relationships with students, families, and school personnel.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and family issues.
• Provide home visits to meet families to address barriers to learning if needed.
• Collaborate with school personnel to assess students' social/emotional obstacles to success.
• Coordinate services for students and families, including referrals to community support agencies.
