Job summary

Research Triangle High School in Durham, NC seeks a Science Teacher to deliver Physics and Earth Science instruction aligned with NC State standards. You will foster inquiry, use labs and data analysis, and collaborate with the Science department to promote student achievement.

You will plan rigorous units, differentiate for diverse learners, and participate in PLCs and professional development as part of our commitment to an innovative STEM education model and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Valid state teaching certification in Science (or eligibility to obtain certification).
• Strong content knowledge in ecosystems, biodiversity, climate change, energy resources, and human impact on the environment.
• Strong content knowledge in matter, motion, energy, and forces.
• Experience with laboratory instruction and safety protocols.
• Ability to integrate technology and data analysis tools into instruction.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of NC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging Science instruction using technology, labs, project-based learning, and standards-aligned content.
• Develop a strong learning community and engage families, while supporting student achievement and social-emotional growth.
• Plan and design rigorous curricula with unit plans and assessments aligned to standards.
• Receive bi-weekly coaching and professional development to improve teaching practices.
• Participate in a data-driven culture to analyze student achievement data and adjust instruction.
• Collaborate with Science department colleagues and participate in PLCs to advance school initiatives.
