Qualifications

• SD teaching certificate with coaching endorsement required.
• SDHSAA Coaches Education Program (Fundamentals of Coaching; First Aid & Concussion in Sports) required.
• Employment as a teacher or teacher aide preferred.
• Previous coaching experience in the assigned sport desired.
• Knowledge and playing experience in the assigned sport preferred.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge and implementation of school and department policies.
• Compliance with SDHSAA and ESD regulations.
• Understand administrative lines of authority and proper channels for concerns.
• Maintain discipline and improve morale within the program.
• Assist in travel, budgeting, and event management.
• Assist in prep for practice, contests, and events; coordinate with facilities staff.
• Provide documentation for eligibility, insurance, and parental consent.
• Supervise facilities and equipment; ensure safety and proper use.
• Communicate routine discipline to participants and parents.
• Direct student managers and statisticians.
