Job summary

The Brookings School District 05-1 is seeking an Assistant Coach for both high school and middle school teams. You will support the head coach in teaching fundamentals, developing game plans, and guiding student-athletes through practices and contests.

Responsibilities include ensuring adherence to SDHSAA and district policies, supervising athletes, coordinating with the Activities Administrator, and maintaining equipment and facilities.

Qualifications

• SD teaching certificate and coaching endorsement required.
• SDHSAA Coaches Education Program (Fundamentals of Coaching, First Aid & Concussion in Sports) required.
• Employment as a teacher or teacher aide preferred.
• Previous coaching experience in assigned sport preferred.
• Knowledge and playing experience in assigned sport preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow school and department policies and SDHSAA/ESD regulations.
• Maintain discipline and morale within the program.
• Assist in travel, budgeting, event management, and practice preparation as directed.
• Supervise facilities, equipment, and student-athletes during practices and contests.
