Position Description

We are seeking a part-time, in-person High School Math Tutor to provide 1:1 or group tutoring instruction during day-time hours and/or evening hours.

• Location: Various locations across New Castle County
• Type: Part-time
• Schedule: Flexible; we are looking for a tutor who can support for less than 10 hours a week between 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM and/or 3:30 PM – 7:30 PM, depending on your availability
• Travel: Tutor may be traveling to different locations across New Castle County to provide tutoring (for example, in schools or libraries)

What you’ll do

• Provide 1:1 or small group tutoring for instruction in high school math in a school setting or library setting
• Develop tailored lesson plans based on student needs and learning styles
• Use creative, hands-on approaches to make the subject engaging and relevant
• Maintain accurate documentation of student sessions and progress
• Communicate with parents regularly and the student’s teacher as needed
• Adjust instruction techniques to accommodate students with learning differences

Your qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience with high school-aged students (excluding student teaching) in the topic of Math (e.g., Geometry, Algebra I & II, Statistics, etc.)
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to adapt lesson plans and teaching approaches based on student engagement, need, and skill level
• Ability to manage students in a group setting
• Ability to travel to different locations in New Castle County (schools, libraries, etc.)
