Job summary

Henrico County Public Schools in Virginia is seeking a dedicated classroom teacher at Hermitage High School to deliver high-quality instruction aligned with state standards and school goals. Qualifications

• Must hold or be eligible for a valid Virginia license with an endorsement in the relevant content area.
• To be eligible for a license, you must demonstrate content knowledge via relevant college coursework or passing scores on the relevant PRAXIS assessment.
• Knowledge of instructional best practices, curriculum design, and adolescent development.
• Strong skills in communication, collaboration, classroom management, and problem-solving.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse learners and school community members.

• Participate in department meetings, team planning, and school initiatives.
• Collaborate with special education staff, counselors, and support personnel as needed.

General Statement of Duties

Responsible for delivering high-quality instruction that supports students' academic growth, critical thinking, and social-emotional development. The teacher creates an engaging, inclusive, and safe learning environment while aligning instruction with state standards, curriculum frameworks, and school goals. This role includes planning and implementing lessons, assessing student progress, providing feedback, and collaborating with colleagues, families, and the community.

Essential Duties

Instruction & Planning

• Develop and deliver daily lesson plans aligned with state and district standards.

Additional Information:

• This is a 10-month (209-day) position with a contractual start date of August 17, 2026.


• Salary will be prorated based on the official start date.
