Job summary

Henrico County Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Coach for the Henrico High School athletics program. The role supports the head coach in organizing the overall program, supervising student-athletes during practices and games, and guiding athletes through skill development and strategic understanding of interscholastic competition.

The position involves coordinating fundraising efforts, ensuring safe travel to events, and upholding athletic standards and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a public-school athletic program.
• Proven ability to coordinate high-level practice sessions.
• Prior experience in preparing athletes for interscholastic competitions.
• Prior experience in managing team fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in the organization of the overall program.

• Prepares players both physically and mentally for interscholastic competition through practice, teaching of fundamental skills, and knowledge of rules.
• Assists in the cleaning, storage, and proper care of all team equipment.
• Attends all required VHSL clinics.
• Regular attendance is required.

General Statement of Duties

The assistant coach supports the head coach in all aspects of the school's sports program, including coordinating high-level practice sessions and providing exceptional leadership and coaching for student-athletes during regional and state competitions. The assistant coach will support and facilitate the management of the team's fundraising efforts, play a role in ensuring the safe travel of student-athletes to and from games and competitions, and maintain the highest standards of sportsmanship and teamwork.

Essential Duties

• Assist the head coach in the organization of the overall program.
• Assist in the supervision of student- athletes during daily practices and at games.
• Prepares players both physically and mentally for interscholastic competition through practice, teaching of fundamental skills, and knowledge of rules.
• Assists in the cleaning, storage, and proper care of all team equipment.
• Attends all required VHSL clinics.
• Regular attendance is required.

Additional Information

• Stipend will be prorated based upon the work begin date.
• In the event the position is shared between two candidates, the stipend will be split.
