Jalen Rose Leadership Academy in Detroit seeks a passionate, full‑time Foreign Language Teacher with state certification to lead language instruction for high school scholars. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of high school teaching, strong English/foreign language proficiency, and a commitment to meeting the needs of underserved students

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or Foreign Language required; master’s a plus.
• Valid state teaching certification in a Foreign Language.
• Proficiency in the Foreign Language and English.
• 3+ years of high school teaching experience with data-driven results.
• Ability to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Jalen Rose Leadership Academy is hiring a Full Time Foreign Language Teacher.
Must have certification and endorsement in specific course. Preference will be given to candidates whose resumes demonstrate measurable impact and data-driven results.

As an educator with Jalen Rose Leadership Academy, you are considered a guardian to our students (whom we refer to as scholars). You will also build trust and community in your classroom via clear and timely communication with your scholars and families. At JRLA, we have created a model specifically designed to raise achievement for historically underserved scholars. Established in 2011 by NBA Star Jalen Rose and Co-Founder Michael Carter, JRLA is located on the Northwest side of Detroit in the zip code where Jalen grew up. An open enrollment, tuition-free, public charter high school, JRLA provides a leadership-focused education to 420 scholars and nearly 1,000 alumni. The mission is to empower all scholars to develop the strength of character, skills, and knowledge needed to matriculate, be great in, and graduate from college or a postsecondary program so that they have the opportunities to be successful in the competitive world and take care of themselves and the people they love.

Built around a 9-16 model, JRLA has never wavered in its pursuit to improve the educational landscape for Detroit area youth. After 13 years of operations, JRLA remains steadfast in its commitment to not only get scholars to graduate from high school but for them to graduate from college or a postsecondary program as well – outcomes that are real game changers in urban education. Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Foreign Language Teacher to join our dynamic and diverse team. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive learning environment that encourages student growth and language proficiency. As a Foreign Language Teacher, you will play a vital role in developing students’ abilities to communicate effectively in a Foreign Language, understand cultural nuances, and appreciate global perspectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an engaging Foreign Language curriculum that aligns with educational standards and meets the diverse learning needs of students.
• Plan and deliver effective and interactive Foreign Language lessons that promote language acquisition and cultural awareness.
• Assess and evaluate student progress through regular assignments, tests, and feedback, providing individualized support as needed.
• Foster a classroom environment that is positive, inclusive, and conducive to learning, encouraging student participation and collaboration.
• Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and resources to accommodate different learning styles and enhance student understanding.
• Collaborate with colleagues, students, and parents to support student achievement and development.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in language education.
• Contribute to extracurricular activities, such as Foreign Language clubs or cultural events, to enrich the students’ learning experience.
• Uphold professional ethics and standards as an educator and a member of the Jaguar family.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Foreign Language, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
• Valid state teaching certification in a Foreign Language or eligibility to obtain certification.
• Proficiency in the Foreign Language, including strong communication skills in both the Foreign Language and English.
• Previous teaching experience at the high school level preferred.
• Deep understanding of the Foreign Language and culture.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive educational environment.
• Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience and demonstrated results
• Provide measurable data driven results on resume
• Possess strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate high school scholars
