Illinois Education Job Bank seeks a dedicated High School Family and Consumer Sciences teacher to plan and deliver engaging, standards-based FACS lessons for diverse secondary courses. The role includes overseeing laboratory activities, safeguarding health standards, and assessing student progress.

You will collaborate with CTE staff and counselors to align curricula with state standards and maintain open communication with families about progress and expectations for the 2027-2028 school year.

Qualifications

• IL PEL license with FACS endorsement at the secondary level.

• Plan, prepare, and deliver standards-based lessons across Family and Consumer Science disciplines.
• Oversee hands-on laboratory experiences (culinary labs) ensuring equipment safety and health protocols.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress, maintain grade records, and provide timely feedback.
• Create a positive, inclusive learning environment promoting engagement, respect, and responsibility.
• Collaborate with CTE staff, counselors, and administration to align curriculum with state standards.
• Maintain communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and course expectations.

Duties

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and standards-based lesson across various Family and Consumer Science disciplines. Courses could include: Foods 1, Foods 2, Child Care 1, Child Care 2, Child Development, and Education 1.
• Oversee hands-on laboratory experiences (such as culinary kitchens), ensuring all equipment is maintained and strict health and safety protocols are followed.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress, maintain an accurate grade book, and provide timely feedback to support student growth.
• Establish a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment that promotes student engagement, respect, and responsibility.
• Work collaboratively with other CTE staff, school counselors, and the administration to align curriculum with state standards.
• Maintain open and consistent communication with parents/guardians regarding student behavior, progress, and course expectations.

Qualifications

Current IL PEL license with an endorsement in FACS at the secondary level.

Salary/Benefits

As determined by the Board of Education and the current negotiated DCMEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
