EVENT WORKER
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY TO

Building Principal and Athletics and Activities Director

JOB SUMMARY

To assist in providing safe, organized, welcoming, and professionally operated athletic and activity events. Event workers may be assigned responsibilities including ticket sales or collection, gate supervision, public address announcing, scorekeeping, clock operation, crowd supervision, event setup and cleanup, and other duties necessary for the successful operation of school-sponsored events. Event workers are expected to provide excellent customer service, promote good sportsmanship, and positively represent Ridgevue High School and the district.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Operations
  • Report to the assigned event location on time and remain at the assigned post until released by the athletics and activities director or event administrator.
  • Check in with the athletics and activities director, event administrator, or designated supervisor before beginning assigned duties.
  • Perform assigned event responsibilities, which may include:
    • Selling, collecting, or verifying admission tickets and passes
    • Supervising entrance and exit gates
    • Providing directions and assistance to spectators, participants, officials, and visiting personnel
    • Making public address announcements
    • Operating the scoreboard, game clock, shot clock, or other event equipment
    • Keeping the official scorebook or recording event results
    • Assisting with event setup, cleanup, and facility preparation
    • Monitoring designated spectator, parking, locker room, or competition areas
  • Follow established procedures for ticket sales, admission prices, passes, cash handling, attendance counts, and financial reconciliation.
  • Maintain the security of all money, tickets, equipment, keys, credentials, and other district property entrusted to the employee.
  • Provide accurate, appropriate, and professional announcements when assigned public address duties.
  • Remain attentive throughout the event and avoid personal activities that interfere with assigned responsibilities.
  • Assist with the orderly entrance and exit of spectators and participants.
  • Help maintain clean, safe, and accessible event areas before, during, and after the event.
  • Promptly report safety concerns, facility problems, injuries, emergencies, or inappropriate conduct to the event administrator.
  • Follow district emergency procedures and assist administrators during evacuations, severe weather, medical incidents, or other emergency situations.
  • Do not leave an assigned area unattended without receiving permission or arranging appropriate coverage through the event administrator.
Professional Conduct and Public Relations
  • Welcome spectators, participants, officials, and visiting teams in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Model positive behavior and promote sportsmanship, respect, and fair play.
  • Treat students, staff members, officials, coaches, participants, and members of the public with dignity and respect.
  • Remain professional and composed when responding to complaints, disagreements, or emotionally charged situations.
  • Refer disputes, unruly behavior, admission concerns, or rule-enforcement issues to the event administrator rather than engaging in confrontation.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding students, employees, event incidents, and district matters.
  • Refrain from using tobacco, alcohol, illegal substances, or inappropriate language while working at a district event.
  • Wear any required identification, event-worker apparel, or appropriate professional attire.
  • Avoid favoritism and enforce admission and event procedures consistently.
  • Positively represent Ridgevue High School and the district in all interactions.
Compliance and Additional Responsibilities
  • Comply with federal and state law, administrative rules, Board policy, district procedures, and facility regulations.
  • Follow applicable Idaho High School Activities Association and conference event-management requirements.
  • Complete any required training related to assigned duties, including cash handling, emergency procedures, event equipment, student safety, and appropriate interactions with minors.
  • Immediately notify the athletics and activities director if unable to work an accepted assignment.
  • Understand that event assignments and hours may vary depending on the school's athletic and activity schedule and that continued assignments are not guaranteed.
  • Perform other event-related duties as assigned by the building principal, athletics and activities director, or event administrator.

EVALUATION

Performance of this position will be evaluated periodically by the building principal, athletics and activities director, and/or designee in accordance with district policy.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Temporary, seasonal, or event-based employment as determined by the Board of Trustees in accordance with federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy. This assignment is an extra duty employee position. Anyone not currently employed by Vallivue School District who applies for and accepts this position will be classified as a temporary employee for the designated assignment. Pay is determined at a per event rate. Pay schedule will follow school district pay periods. Events that occur the 6th through the 5th of the month will be paid the following month.

NOTE

All certificated and non-certificated employees and other individuals are required to undergo a criminal history check and submit to fingerprinting. Any applicant convicted of any of the felony crimes enumerated in Section 33-1208, Idaho Code may not be hired, and any applicant convicted of any felony offense listed in Section 33-1208(2), Idaho Code shall not be hired.
