Job summary

Institute For Latino Progress seeks an ESL Teacher for the IJLA program to serve high school students in grades 9–12, guiding learners toward proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

The role requires a bachelor’s in education, an active teaching license, ESL endorsement, and at least two years of ESL/bilingual teaching experience. Strong collaboration, data reporting, and parent engagement are essential responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, preferably with English concentration.
• Professional educator’s license.
• ESL endorsement/certification.
• Two years ESL/bilingual teaching experience.
• Proficient with computers, email and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
• Team-oriented and collaborative.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Dependability and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Provide ESL instruction to high school students (grades 9–12).
• Assist in administering language proficiency tests and placement assessments.
• Help develop curriculum to support EL students’ language acquisition.
• Ensure EL components from state and district are included in lesson plans.
• Use varied teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs.
• Report data for required reports and communications with stakeholders.
• Communicate with parents and engage families in student learning.
• Participate in staff development and BAC activities.
• Attend IEP/504 meetings as needed; support school compliance.
• Support school-wide programs and events.
