Job summary

Institute For Latino Progress in Chicago seeks an English Teacher for IJLA to deliver high school English instruction aligned with SAT/Common Core standards. You will plan, differentiate, and assess for grades 9–12, using varied teaching strategies and hands-on activities to foster student engagement.

The role emphasizes collaboration with leadership, SPED, and other teachers, with a focus on preparing students for college and post-secondary success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in English with education focus or equivalent.
• Illinois Type 9 Certification in English required or in scope.
• Experience coordinating curriculum and standards alignment.
• Ability to design differentiated lessons for diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Develop or update English curriculum and grade-9 to 12 lesson plans.
• Deliver engaging, standards-aligned English instruction to diverse learners.
• Collaborate with SPED and core-subject teachers for multiple learning strategies.
• Maintain attendance, inputs grades in PowerSchool, and complete required paperwork.
