Job summary

Instituto Justice & Leadership Academy seeks an ESL Teacher to support high school ELL students in acquiring listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The role involves proficiency testing, curriculum development, and collaboration with staff and families.

The position emphasizes aligning with state and district EL requirements, employing diverse instructional strategies, and contributing to school-wide initiatives and events as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education with a relevant English concentration is required.
• ESL endorsement/certification must be current.
• Professional teaching license and bilingual experience preferred.
• Experience in ESL/bilingual settings and strong tech use are expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide ESL instruction to high school students (9–12).
• Administer language proficiency and academic placement tests.
• Administer ACCESS tests for EL students.
• Develop curriculum to support English language acquisition.
• Ensure EL state and district components appear in lesson plans.
• Use varied instruction: whole group, small group, and individual.
• Gather and report data for compliance and reporting requirements.
• Maintain parent communication and engage families in learning.
• Lead or participate in professional learning for ELLs.
• Contribute to school operations and participate in meetings.
• Attend IEP/504 meetings and school activities outside hours.
• Participate in BAC and other assigned duties.
