Job summary

Fort Madison Community School District is seeking an English teacher for FM Jr/Sr High for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, inclusive learning environment for high school students and engage learners to support academic and social development.

Ideal candidates hold an Iowa Teaching license and 5-12 English/Language Arts endorsement, with a Bachelor's in Education and a preference for a Master’s degree.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Iowa Teaching license and 5-12 English/Language Arts endorsement.
• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and assess engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards and district priorities.
• Create and sustain a positive classroom environment following PBIS/MTSS frameworks and fostering inclusivity.
• Utilize diverse teaching methods and instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles.
• Monitor student progress with formal and informal assessments and provide timely feedback.
• Identify and address individual student needs with data-driven interventions and enrichment.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop assessments and ensure equitable instruction.
• Maintain open communication with parents and school community about student progress.
• Participate in ongoing professional development to improve instructional effectiveness.
